If you are searching for a DVD on the human body for kids, you won’t find a better one than Rock ‘N Learn Human Body. To develop this program, we first consulted with educators known for helping students score high on standardized science tests. Besides creating an enlightening and entertaining DVD on the human body, we wanted to cover in depth the type of material that students encounter on state-mandated tests. Our team examined standardized science tests in several states, looking at questions about the human body systems and specific details related to the five senses, particularly what is covered at the fifth grade level. We wanted a DVD that would help prepare 5th through 8th graders for tests on the human body, but also hold the interest and capture the imaginations of younger kids. Our goal was a human body DVD program that would present detailed information and vocabulary words, while at the same time provide lots of entertainment, humor, and fun.
Our educational consultants, including science teachers, helped us fact check the material. We also incorporated suggestions from our medical consultant, Dr. Dena Cornelius, M.D. We designed our models and animations of the human body to engage students and to help them retain the information.
For the entertainment aspect of this DVD, we worked with award-winning actors, including Vic Mignogna, Luci Christian, and Kira Vincent. Besides fun, informative dialogue among the characters, you'll enjoy music that holds the attention of kids, lots of sound effects, and exciting animations.
In our focus groups, we found that this DVD holds the interest of a wide range of kids, from advanced preschoolers to elementary students at all grades and even all the way up to high school students and adults. In this sense, it offers educational entertainment for the whole family. No matter what your age, you will likely learn things you did not know or did not understand well.
The DVD opens with Kevin, a fifth-grader fascinated by information he is learning about the human body. Kevin enjoys what he is discovering so much that he is considering a career in the medical field—possibly becoming a doctor, nurse, or medical researcher. His friend Marko, a humanoid pencil, shows up and invites Kevin on an exciting journey to explore the human body at Marko’s Super Science Station, along with Bailey, an expert on life science.
At the Body Systems Learning Center, our friends learn about the skeletal system, nervous system, and muscular system. They move on to explore the parts of the circulatory system and how it transports nutrients, gases, and wastes to and from cells. The systems of the human body harmoniously work together, and Kevin discovers how the urinary system helps remove waste from the blood. He learns how the respiratory system allows oxygen into the blood and lets carbon dioxide leave the blood. Each system of the human body comes to life with colorful models and diagrams. Kids learn important vocabulary words associated with a detailed understanding of the human body that will help challenge their minds.
Next, Kevin explores models and animations of the human digestive system to learn what it includes and how it works. Afterwards, when Kevin remarks, “That’s a lot of material to learn,” Marko tells Kevin he knows a fun way to make this information easier to “digest.” Kevin joins Marko and Bailey on an amusement park ride called The Alimentary Canal. The Rockin’ Molars provide musical entertainment along the way.
Then it’s time to move on to the Sensory Learning Center to explore each of the five senses in depth: sight, taste, smell, hearing, and touch. Large, realistic models help Kevin learn the parts involved in each of the five senses and how they work. Humorous dialogue among the characters helps kids retain scientific terms and facts about the senses.
Before heading back home, Kevin becomes a game show contestant on “The Body Wheel.” Kids watching the DVD get to play too. This is a fun way to review material about the human body and reinforce the learning of scientific facts and vocabulary words. Kevin leaves Marko’s Super Science Station with much more knowledge and understanding about the human body and the feeling of confidence that he is well prepared for a standardized test about the human body.
This DVD also includes bonus sections. Kids can watch the Alimentary Canal Song with lyrics on screen. They can practice answering some standardized test questions about the human body with Marko coaching them and providing tips on how to read questions carefully, consider all the answers, eliminate obviously incorrect choices, and interpret a bar graph.
Human Body DVD provides a bonus section on MyPyramid for Kids and the importance of good nutrition and exercise to take excellent care of your body. This segment is especially useful during a time when parents and educators worry that kids do not get enough exercise and eat too many junk foods. MyPyramid is the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s update on the food pyramid. Many school systems require that students learn about MyPyramid and be quizzed over how it promotes physical activity and a proper mix of food groups in everyone’s diet. Students enjoy learning about MyPyramid for Kids with this entertaining bonus section included on Human Body DVD.
Get started immediately by helping your child or your students brush up on human body knowledge and learn some really great test-taking skills.

"This was exceptional learning tool for children. It was concise, factual and it flowed very smoothly from one body system to the next, keeping the child's interest. The video encourages an interest in the child's own body increasing their understanding on the human body functions and the medical terminology used to describe for each body parts."—Reviewer, iParenting Media Awards 2009
"Awesome! I appreciate the factual scientific names. The songs are cute, too. The animation is clear and entertaining. My child is a third grader and has been learning a lot of this at school. Their science teacher was excited when I shared this video with her. She has passed it on to the other teachers in her grade level to use with their students. This has good sound effects and colorful diagrams. I liked the colorful models, too. The Body Wheel was cute! My child liked it. It can be overwhelming for children to learn scientific facts. This DVD makes the information understandable and easy to learn. Thank you! This is a great product."—Reviewer, iParenting Media Awards 2009
"What an amazing video presentation. Kids from 5 to 15 (yes we know that's beyond the suggested age) found it fascinating. Everyone who watches, parents too, learn something they never knew before about the human body. There is a virtual tour of the skeletal, nervous, muscular, cardiovascular, urinary, respiratory and digestive systems. But Rock 'N Learn was not content to end the lesson there, they added a bonus section addressing the Alimentary canal, the food pyramid and more. It's quite remarkable and testers were excited to give it enthusiastic write-ups. Just goes to show, when you have something that makes learning science or any subject fun, you want to shout about it."—Review, The National Parenting Center Seal of Approval Holiday Report 2009
"This product was viewed by an after school program with around 15 school age students. The material covered on the DVD was educational and from listening to the conversation of the students some of the material they have had in school and some of the material was new so there was a good match."—Reviewer, iParenting Media Awards 2009
